New Delhi: 74,903 new corona cases have been registered in the country in the past 24 hours. By the morning of September 22nd, total coronavirus cases had exceeded 55 lakh. There were thus a total of 55,62,483 cases of infection in the country. There have been 1,053 deaths in the past 24 hours, with the total death toll reaching 88,935. The total number of patients cured so far is 44,97,867. The recovery rate in the country is 80.86%. Active patients are 17.54%, i.e. 9,75,681. The death rate is 1.59% and the positivity rate is 8.02%.
According to the ICMR, a total of 6 crore 53 lakh samples of the coronavirus had been tested by September 21, of which 9 lakh 33,000 samples were tested yesterday.
At the same time, there was good news about the corona vaccine. The Phase III clinical trial of a potential vaccine against covid-19, developed by Oxford University and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII), began Monday at Government Sassoon General Hospital in Pune.
In the second phase, the vaccine was tested at Bharti Vidyapeeth Medical College and KEM Hospital. It is noteworthy that SII is a partner of the Anglo-Swedish company AstraZeneca in the manufacture of this vaccine developed by Oxford University. Earlier this month, SII suspended vaccine testing across the country.
